Built in the 1920s, the neo-Gothic landmark building at 1530 Main Street was originally the Dallas National Bank. It dominated the downtown skyline during a thriving era of Dallas banking and West Texas oil booms. Downtown Dallas flourished through the ’80s, but as the 20th century drew to a close, it was a shadow of its former glory. A decade of development deals and massive renovations transformed the then-vacant bank building into a Forbes four-star boutique hotel. Aptly named after the international unit of energy, The Joule brought a charge to downtown Dallas when it opened in 2008. Through a series of further renovations and expansions as adjacent properties became available, The Joule has become a cultural, shopping, and dining destination—a forerunner in the renaissance of downtown Dallas.

 

Overview

The Spa Supervisor is responsible for supervising the team, ensuring the company standards are consistently applied, participating in operational decisions, creating, developing and implementing concepts, demonstrating effective retail management and delivering high level of service to guests.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Spa Manager in their absence.
  • Acting as Manager on Duty
  • Assist the Spa Director/Manager, Spa Lead Therapist(s) with the supervision, management, and growth of the Spa/Wellness team. This includes developing a skilled and motivated team, leading by example and instilling a culture of continuous learning and improvement amongst employees.
  • Help identifying and assessing the needs and opportunities for career development of each team member through effective coaching and training.
  • Interview, train, schedule, monitor employee performance and discipline members of the spa/wellness team.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records and statistics on the spa/wellness department employees.
  • Actively participate in employee relations activities and programs.
  • Promote harmony between the team members and all hotel departments.
  • Report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform/attire and name tag. 
  • To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the hotel and department personal appearance standards.   
  • Develop operation manuals for the department and implement training programs to ensure the growth of the team members and level of service. 
  • Maintain an organized administration of departmental and personnel records, including rostering and leave planning. 
  • Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, and motivating and coaching employees; serve as a role model.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests’ service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language; prepare and review written documents accurately and completely; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; develop and implement quality improvement or corrective action plans.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; Supervisory experience preferred; A thorough understanding of spa treatments and the spa environment
  • To be always courteous to guests and other members of staff. 
  • To be adaptable and accountable for all actions.
