Built in the 1920s, the neo-Gothic landmark building at 1530 Main Street was originally the Dallas National Bank. It dominated the downtown skyline during a thriving era of Dallas banking and West Texas oil booms. Downtown Dallas flourished through the ’80s, but as the 20th century drew to a close, it was a shadow of its former glory. A decade of development deals and massive renovations transformed the then-vacant bank building into a Forbes four-star boutique hotel. Aptly named after the international unit of energy, The Joule brought a charge to downtown Dallas when it opened in 2008. Through a series of further renovations and expansions as adjacent properties became available, The Joule has become a cultural, shopping, and dining destination—a forerunner in the renaissance of downtown Dallas.

 

Overview

The Server Assistant serves patrons by setting tables; placing and replacing silverware; keeping beverage glasses full; adhering to sanitation and safety policies; clearing and cleaning tables, chairs, and environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and acknowledge guests promptly upon arrival with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Maintain a high standard of sanitation and cleanliness, including the appearance of restaurant furniture and dining areas.
  • Stock and replenish condiments, utensils, and supplies in the beverage and service areas, ensuring coffee, tea, and water stations are consistently maintained.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the menu, including pricing, specials, and preparation methods.
  • Know how to operate all services and line equipment effectively.
  • Support servers by taking and placing food and beverage orders in the POS system and responding to guest needs to ensure overall satisfaction.
  • Set, clear, and reset tables in dining areas efficiently and according to service standards.
  • Deliver food from the kitchen to guests, ensuring accuracy and proper presentation.
  • Assist with preparing guest checks and completing payment transactions when required.
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and actively work toward improving overall guest experience.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management to support restaurant operations.
  • Monitor table turnover and assist with expediting table resets to maximize seating capacity.
  • Provide basic menu recommendations and answer guest questions about ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Assist in handling guest requests and concerns promptly, escalating to management when necessary.
  • Help servers with carrying larger trays or assisting with multiple orders to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Support special event setups and breakdowns to ensure timely execution.
