The Newbury Boston at One Newbury Street, located in the premier shopping and dining neighborhood of Boston’s Back Bay is an iconic property originally opened in 1927 as one of the first Ritz-Carlton hotels in the U.S. and most recently was the Taj Boston. The building was recently transformed into a 286-room luxury hotel with 16,000-sq-ft of stunning event spaces, signature dining experiences and a reimagined front entrance on Newbury Street.

Overview

The Food & Beverage Hospitality Associate provides direct support to the food and beverage team, ensuring smooth daily operations through guest engagement, service assistance, and organizational support. This role involves assisting with front-of-house service, maintaining operational readiness, and performing administrative tasks as needed. The F&B Hospitality Associate plays a key role in upholding service standards and enhancing the overall guest experience.

 

This is a physically active position requiring extended periods of standing, walking, and lifting. The ability to transport and occasionally serve alcoholic beverages in compliance with hotel policies and legal regulations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Answer telephone and email inquiries, responding promptly and professionally
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of hotel events, restaurant hours, and menu offerings
  • Assist with guest arrival and seating, following established service protocols
  • Manage reservations and waitlists, effectively communicating wait times to guests
  • Ensure seamless communication of guest details and requests to service staff
  • Organize and distribute menus while maintaining clean and presentable service areas
  • Assist with light cleaning and setup tasks as needed to maintain an organized work environment
  • Support the management team in strategizing service execution
  • Assist with menu printing, assembly, and general office administrative work
  • Handle department related correspondence and documentation
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

This position requires a high level of physical activity, attention to detail, and guest interaction. The F&B Hospitality Associate plays a key role in ensuring an efficient and refined service experience, supporting both operational and administrative functions within the food and beverage team.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one year of experience in a hospitality, restaurant, or guest service role preferred
  • College coursework in hospitality or a related field is beneficial
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internal hotel systems preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to lift and transport up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable standing and moving for long periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, service driven environment
