One of the longest-standing hotels in Downtown L.A., Hotel Figueroa recently completed a stunning restoration by award-winning design agency Studio Collective. Hotel Figueroa’s fierce spirit is now matched with modern touches, all while respecting the property’s original footprint and Spanish Colonial design.

The hotel boasts 268 rooms and suites, five F&B outlets and a landscaped courtyard featuring its iconic coffin-shaped pool. Hotel Figueroa’s vibrant arts program includes rotating art exhibits showcasing the works of L.A.’s most compelling female artists — an homage to its founding in 1926 as the largest project to have been financed, owned and operated by women. 

Overview

The Houseman is a key support role within the Housekeeping department, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of public spaces and back-of-house areas. This role ensures Room Attendants have the necessary supplies and support to deliver an exceptional guest experience aligned with Highgate standards. 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of all public areas, including lobby, corridors, restrooms, elevators, and service areas in accordance with property standards
  • Provide daily support to Room Attendants by delivering linens, towels, and amenities in a timely manner
  • Remove and transport soiled linens, trash, and recycling to designated areas
  • Restock housekeeping closets, supply rooms, and carts to ensure operational readiness
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest and internal requests, ensuring a high level of service
  • Assist with room readiness, including moving furniture, setting up rollaways, and special requests
  • Perform scheduled deep cleaning projects such as carpet care, floor maintenance, and high-touch surface sanitation
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of back-of-house housekeeping areas
  • Identify and report maintenance issues or safety concerns to management immediately
  • Follow all safety guidelines, brand standards, and operational procedures

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in housekeeping or hospitality preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness standards
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic communication skills and a service-oriented mindset
