Located atop San Francisco’s famed Nob Hill at the corner of California and Powell streets, Stanford Court hotel is steps from the city’s best dining, shopping, entertainment and cultural attractions.  The hotel features 393 well-appointed rooms and suites, offering comfortable accommodations for leisure and business travelers in a prime location.  With a storied history dating back nearly 140 years, Stanford Court sits on the historic site of renowned “Big 4” railroad mogul, university founder, and U.S. senator Leland Stanford’s elaborate private mansion.  Leland Stanford was at the forefront of innovation in his era, and today’s Stanford Court hotel pays homage to his legacy by representing the new frontier of innovation for the 21st century.

Overview

The Utility Engineer is responsible for insuring that the property is maintained in the best possible condition at all times with the least amount of inconvenience to guests and employees.

Responsibilities

This is an 89 Day Project for skilled Utility workers.

  • Primary duties, under the direction of the Chief Engineer, focus on guest bathrooms recaulking and grouting needs.
  • As directed, there may be some preventive maintenance work in guest rooms within the Utility framework.
  • Perform and maintain work to local, state and Federal codes as instructed.
  • Schedule is Monday - Friday, under the supervision of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or one year of experience in a hotel or related field required.
  • At least one year of experience in a hotel, building, hospital or dormitoary setting.
  • Trade school and/or College course work in related field preferred.
  • Must have caulking and grouting experience in a professional setting.

Physical requirements:

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.  Schedule is Monday - Friday Morning shift.
  • Repetitive work - Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management outside of initial project as needed
  • 89 days project Engineer, specifically working on Hotel Bathrooms  with a focus on caulking and grouting.
