The Laundry Washer is responsible for efficiently washing and processing resort linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items to ensure clean products are available for guest rooms and resort operations. This position operates commercial laundry equipment, follows established washing procedures, and maintains a steady production pace to support daily departmental goals.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies linen by functional use and correctly sorts and segregates linen by wash load requirement within established time standards. Assists in the collection of dirty linen on-site as assigned by the senior machine operator. Logs all work.
  • Process resort linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Sort soiled laundry and prepare items for the appropriate wash cycle.
  • Load and unload commercial washing machines safely and efficiently.
  • Select appropriate wash cycles and ensure laundry is properly cleaned according to established standards.
  • Use laundry chemicals and products safely and according to established procedures.
  • Monitor laundry equipment and wash cycles to ensure proper operation and quality results.
  • Inspect washed laundry and identify items that require additional treatment or processing.
  • Keep laundry moving efficiently through the department to support daily production needs.
  • Move laundry between designated areas using carts, bins, and other equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Communicate equipment issues, laundry concerns, or production delays to the supervisor.
  • Work collaboratively with the laundry team to meet departmental goals and maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Follow all safety, chemical-handling, sanitation, and resort procedures.
  • Provide support to other areas of the laundry operation as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 

Essential Functions

  • Stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining a consistent production pace to support daily laundry volume and departmental goals.
  • Operates a golf cart to return linen to the washroom for processing which requires a valid Driver’s License.
  • Monitors wash chemical injection units and chemical drums to ensure wash quality meets established quality standards. Exchanges 50 lb drums as required and alerts supervisor of chemical requirements before chemicals are exhausted as assigned by the senior machine operator.
  • Repeatedly stand, bend, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, and carry as required to perform the job. 
  • Repeatedly lift and move laundry and laundry carts which can weigh 500-1000 lbs
  • Load and unload commercial washing machines.
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift.
  • Safely maneuver carts and bins containing laundry.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating and using industrial machinery.
  • Valid Driver License preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Ability to meet or exceed established production quotas.
  • Ability to perform repetitive folding and sorting tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely push, pull, lift, carry, and maneuver laundry bins and carts.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a warm and humid commercial laundry environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, and established work standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
