The Regional PR Coordinator will play a pivotal role in elevating the Highgate Hawaii regional portfolio by supporting impactful, demand-generating property PR & communications initiatives. This role assists with proactive media relations, strategic storytelling and brand communications designed to elevate brand visibility and demand-generating narratives across local, select national, traditional and emerging media landscapes. This role liaises with media and influencers/creators, works closely with the region’s marketing leaders for full-funnel campaigns, and on-property operations and department leaders to support property positioning within Hawaiʻi's competitive hospitality landscape. This role will also support in the develop and refinement of brand messaging and guest programming, while positively contributing to enhancing guest satisfaction and team culture.

Media Relations

• Develop and maintain relationships with media
• Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, pitches, and byline articles
• Assist with fielding and managing inbound media inquiries; support in coordinating and staffing interviews, site visits, and press stays
• Help track media coverage and compile regular reporting on placements, reach, and sentiment
• Assist in identifying, vetting, coordinating, and managing on-property media visits, press tours, and FAM trips to secure earned media coverage and positive exposure; track deliverables and performance

Strategic Communications

• Assist in the development of PR strategies and campaigns that align with overall marketing and business goals and seasonal priorities (openings, renovations, culinary launches, events, luau/entertainment programming)
• Draft key messaging and talking points for spokespeople
• Partner with Marketing on integrated campaigns spanning earned, owned, and paid channels

Content & Brand Storytelling

• Help maintain a repository of media-facing brand assets, fact sheets, executive bios, and press kits
• Assist in ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging across all external communications
• Support planning and execution of photo and video shoots on property, ensuring alignment with brand standards and storytelling goals; manage the hotel’s photo libraries and public visual identity
• Collaborate on campaigns that incorporate F&B, spa/wellness, sustainability, and cultural programs to tell a cohesive brand story

Reporting & Thought Leadership

• Assist in preparing reports, presentations and materials for internal and external meetings with stakeholders
• Help track monthly KPIs/ROIs and compile results into reports demonstrating performance
• Monitor relevant trends in media, influencer/creator, affiliate, digital, social, traditional and emerging channels and spaces

• Minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in the Marketing/Communications industry (hospitality industry essential)
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canva, Cision, Meltwater, and Muckrack is a plus
• Strong writing and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and brand voice
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable coordinating with internal teams, media, and vendors
• Basic understanding of the media landscape and social/digital content trends
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to track multiple projects and deadlines
• Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Eagerness to learn PR strategy and grow within the marketing and communications field
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships

For Employees Based in California:

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
